The Madeira Wine Company owns some of the most important brands within the wine trade, including Blandy’s Madeira, Cossart Gordon, Miles Madeira, and the still wine brand Atlantis. The company is owned by the Blandy family, a family with over 210 years of experience in fine wine making. The family has played a leading role in the development of Madeira wine throughout its long history and members of the family continue to live in Madeira and work in the group, maintaining a tradition that goes back to 1811.

Established in 1811, Blandy’s Madeira represents over 200 years and seven generations of expertise in producing award-winning wines. As a premium brand, Blandy’s unites tradition, authenticity, and innovation to celebrate the timeless charm of Madeira Wine.

Located in the very center of Madeira's capital, Blandy's Wine Lodge has been the heart of the family's wine business for 7 generations. This historical building is home to an extensive wine collection, a family museum and more than 650 barrels and vats aging the finest of the family's wines.

The lodge features several tasting rooms and shops, ready to welcome visitors throughout the day. As well as guided tours and tutored wine tastings available upon prior reservation in Portuguese, English, German, French and Spanish languages.

About Us

The Madeira Wine Company, S.A. (MWC) was originally started as an association, founded in 1913 by a number of Madeira wine producing companies, who decided to join forces in order to maximize their global exposure and minimize overheads in a world where the export market was experiencing an all-time low. During the inter-war years, the old family firms of Blandy’s and Leacock joined, followed immediately post-war by Miles and Cossart Gordon, thereby creating the largest producer and exporter of Madeira wine. Whatever the size, the maintaining of the unique characteristics and style of each individual firm was at the core of the association.
